July 2020 Newsletter

When lockdown started we could never have imagined the number of people our osteopaths would be able to help, saving a lot of anguish as well as unburdening the NHS during such a critical time.

"I came for an osteopathy session in May. It was my first time interacting with people other than who I live with. It was weird having the session with the face mask, apron and gloves when you consider how hands on the treatment is. But; what I will say is this. I really needed that treatment and if it meant waiting outside and being temperature checked and the PPE then I was happy with that. After all it is two way protection.

Booking via the app is brilliant and so simple. It works a treat.

I was so very glad you remained open and up and running.

I loved the way you approached diversity of delivery. I’ve no doubt it kept people in touch, which from a psychological perspective during these crazy times is so valuable.

Great work as ever supporting your Bridgeham community."

And of course, we can't forget the amazing work our Pilates team has done! Taking their classes and 1:1 sessions online via Zoom and also creating some incredible rehabilitation workshops to enable people to continuetheir broken to brilliant journeys at home.

"Lockdown has been a very up and down journey for me, as I’m sure it has for most people. Whilst I have loved the clear blue skies and the peace and quiet of a country in lockdown, I have really missed seeing and hugging my grown up children and socialising with friends. Zoom is great but it’s attraction fades after a few months! I have also had trouble sleeping and lots of weird dreams, like many people I’m sure.

Bridgeham has been a brilliant support through this time in many ways. I signed up to Jo’s online classes right from the start and have taken part in two Buff Bones classes most weeks. They have been so easy to access and apart from a couple of internet problems they have gone brilliantly! It is almost like having Jo in the room with you, she can see exactly how you are moving and correct anything that you are not doing right. She is always really upbeat and positive and also works us really hard! My dog has put in a few personal appearances and Jo and Trevor's dog is a regular participant😃It is also so good to see the same people in class every week, some old hands and some who have joined because it’s now online.

I have also been to the clinic as the result of two falls which damaged my ribs and lower back. The set up there is highly professional and I felt very safe. Both Trevor and Dan looked very fetching in full PPE! Being in lockdown and in pain is not much fun and both they and Jo have made a huge difference to both my physical and my mental wellbeing during lockdown.

Thank you Bridgeham! ❤️"

Teamwork really is the dream work! We really appreciate the support we have had from all our team, they have been so appreciative, supportive and encouraging. We and you are all very lucky to have people who care and want to help as much as they do.

Although NHS England does not publish waiting times for physiotherapy referrals, in December last year, it was reported that patients were waiting up to four months for an appointment to see a physiotherapist. You can read more about the statistics here.

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, we can only assume that these waiting times are set to increase significantly as physiotherapists continue to support those people affected by and recovering from the virus.

Our osteopaths, as Primary Health care practitioners along with our amazing multidisciplinary team are committed to supporting the NHS andits patients during this time.

With that in mind, if there is anyone reading this with connections to local doctors surgeries that would be interested in introducing us and helping them to learn about the services we offer and how we can supporttheir patients with musculoskeletal issues, please do give us a call 01293542245 or email Pauline at pm@bridgeham.com.

C-ME Family & Friends Offer

Wellbeing is not just about self, it is also about how we relate to others.

With this in mind, Alex from TLRdynamics would like to offer you an opportunity to learn more about yourself, family or friends and how lockdown could be affecting your wellbeing.

Alex uses a tool called C-Me colour profiling, used a lot in business. C-Me have created a Friends and Family report focusing on you at home, rather than in a business context. It can be used with those aged 14+(this is a suggested age, it is not restricted) to help you as a family or housemates reduce frustrations and help each other where they need the support.

By understanding individual needs, it’s a great way to help improve relationships, therefore improving everyone’s wellbeing.

Read more about C-Me colour profiling and how it could help you in a recent blog that Alex wrote for us. You can also hear more about her work by listening to this brilliant podcast she recently took part in!

Oh, and don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled over on social media channels during July!

We post daily with clinic updates, interesting articles and MUCH more! Including silly videos of Trev like this ;)

Just in case you missed it, read our latest article in the Platinum Business Magazine!

We'd love to know what you think and how you answered the question "How are you?" Read it here.
